Susan Ann Darragh, age 66, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 11, 2023.
Susan would want to be remembered most for her compassion and love for animals big and small. She rescued and adopted many cats and dogs throughout her life and urged people to adopt from their local shelters rather than through a breeder. In her younger years, she volunteered at animal shelters to further show her commitment to helping and saving animals. She always said, “we don’t deserve animals because they are too innocent and precious for this cruel world.”
She loved the following: unicorns, apple butter, crisp autumn days, Furbies, Patchouli oil, hot young hunks (her exact words), frozen Cadbury Eggs, pickle juice, coffee (lots of it!), Blue Bunny ice cream, horror movies, eclectic Celtic music, cooking for her friends and family, but most of all she loved her kids and animals fiercely.
If you met Susan, you would not easily forget her (or her vibrant red hair); she left an indelible impression on most…good or bad. She was a force to be reckoned with in her youth. She possessed a biting humor and a wry wit that some people found off putting, but for those close to her they understood those qualities made her unique. She dealt with a lot of hardships and disappointment throughout her life that unfortunately tainted her view of the world. Her kids recognize that she made mistakes in her life, but that she was human and we are not perfect. They understood she harbored pain, both mentally and physically. They forgive her and would want her to know they love her with all their hearts. They will do their best to uphold her memory, but to also move forward while finding purpose and meaning in their own lives. Susan wanted one song dedicated to her once she left this world. It’s something she asked of her children many moons ago.
I’ll always love my mama, she’s my favorite girl. I’ll always love my mama she brought me in this world. -The Intruders
She is survived by her son, Devin Darragh, daughter, Arielle Haley and beloved pet, Moo Darragh.
