Theodore ‘Ted” Robachefski, age 94 years, of Ringoes, NJ, died peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in Nanticoke, PA, October 9, 1926, son of the late Stanley and Lillian Robachefski, Ted was raised in Pennsylvania and had formerly lived in Manville, NJ prior to moving to Ringoes in 1965.
Faithfully serving his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy, Ted was a proud member of the Navy Seabees, the construction battalion of the Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946 after serving in the Pacific Theater.
Upon his return home, he would find work at Johns Manville, where he would spend his career. It was one of his work colleagues who would set Ted up on a blind date with Ms. Gladys Gerba in August of 1959. The date went well, so well in fact that the couple would marry on May 21, 1960. They had each found their soul mate and there was no need to waste time.
Not long after they married, they would build a home on land in nearby East Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, where Gladys’s family had a large and well-known chicken farm. It was there where the couple would raise their three children: a daughter, Donna, and two sons, Michael and John.
Ted was known to be extremely honest and lived a simple life, enjoying hunting, fishing, bowling, picking mushrooms, and anything having to do with sports, as he was quite a good athlete.
His family was his world, and though quiet, he was known to throw out some humorous ‘zingers’ when no one was expecting.
Faith was also very much at the foundation of who he was, and his Christian values drove much of his persona. Ted very much enjoyed taking his mother-in-law to daily mass at 7:30 a.m. at St. Magdalen Church for many years until her passing.
Micah 6:8 says: He hath shown thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the Lord require of thee but to do justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Ted lived his life as a humble child of the Lord, striving to do good and make the world better for all peoples. To honor his legacy, is to simply do the same…
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters -in-law, Stanley and Helen Robachefski and Leo and Dolores Robachefski.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Gladys Gerba Robachefski; a son, Michael A. Robachefski, a daughter, Donna Marie King; a son, John D. Robachefski; three grandchildren, Ryan and Taylor King and Hunter Robachefski; a sister, Winifred Robachefski; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Joseph Rathband; several extended family; and many dear friends.
