I met Tom at the Stangl Factory holiday market when we stopped to admire his photos. He spoke with us and shared how he loved to give the children a picture of an animal/wildlife so they may have their own treasure to keep. I have mine...thank you. Truly a sweet man. My sympathies for your loss.

Tom has touched so many lives with his enthusiasm and passion for photography. Tom and I have spent countless hours chasing our dream whether it was sitting in the bird blind at Peace Valley, photographing seals and shore birds at Sandy Hook, waiting for the fox kits to venture out of their dens at the Great Swamp, or just sitting around enjoying each other's company while photographing the hummingbirds, eagles, and anything else we could find. He has mentored not only me, but so many aspiring photographers, helping us to improve our photography skills often times stressing his three favorite words, subject. lighting, background. I'm sure we will carry those words with us wherever we go. Tom was an amazing photographer, but the thing I will remember and cherish the most is his friendship. He was always kind, generous, and thoughtful He was delighted to share not only his pictures, but his stories which were usually quite entertaining. He loved being with people and in his own words, was thankful for “having the best friends anyone could ever ask for." He was loved and will be missed by so many. To his family whom he loved and adored, I offer my heartfelt condolences and hope that the treasured memories you shared will bring you comfort and peace at this most difficult time.

We have known Tom for as long as we have worked with the NJ Endangered and Nongame Species Program. He cared so much about all precious wildlife and his photos captured that love and appreciation. Tom was so generous sharing his photos with others. He told me that he thought by giving his photos to others, he could inspire them to protect and preserve the creatures he loved. I will miss seeing Tom along the roads photographing eagles, deer, kestrels, pheasants, foxes, and so many other wild creatures. Those of us working for the Eagle Project in central New Jersey all knew Tom. I think we all have some of his photos! He offered us 4 beautiful eagle photos the very first time we met him at the Three Bridges eagles’ nest! These photos are now hanging in our home along with others he gave us through the years. He immediately reported disruptive human activity and took photo evidence when he saw it at this, his local eagles’ nest. In doing this, he helped us monitors in the program and more importantly, he helped the eagles tremendously since we volunteers can’t be at the nest 24/7. I miss Tom so much. He was so talented! I would like to think he is flying with the eagles now! Our thoughts are with Tom's family and hope that the good memories of Tom will give them comfort in this time of loss. His photos are a legacy that Tom has left us all.

My deepest condolences to Tom’s entire family. What a difficult and shocking loss to you all. Tom was one of my best friends and my co-worker for almost 40 years. He was truly a friend that I considered family. My 13-year-old granddaughter, Chloe had a very special relationship with Tom from the time she was 2 years old. He spent countless hours with her teaching her about kindness and respect to every type of animal. He also shared his passion for photography and they spent many hours photographing animals together. Tom also introduced Chloe to horseback riding and took her for lessons for many years. They had a special bond and Chloe learned so many values from Tom that my family will be forever grateful to him for. Thank you, Tom, for all the special memories you captured with your camera for my family and friends. Thank you for your friendship, your support and the passions you instilled in Chloe. We will forever miss you!

My love and deepest condolences to all of Tom's family.. Remembering Tom…….My husband, Colin, and I first met Tom over 40 years ago. We bought some property in Lebanon Township consisting of an old farmhouse, some open land, and lots of woodland. We wanted to start a farm. (Sheep and pigs). Tom and some of his family and friends already hunted there. They knocked on our door and asked if they could continue hunting. After some conversation, we came to an agreement that they would have sole hunting rights, and in exchange would give us some helping hands when needed. What a deal! They appeared excited, and we received the very best of help available. Tom was the leader and organizer of the group. They helped us in so many ways - erecting fences, clearing land, painting the old barn, and also posted the land and kept a general eye out. They hunted with shotgun and bow and arrow, but even then, Tom was always taking photos and enjoying nature around him. Twenty years later, it was time for us to sell the farm, and again we received so much help, especially from Tom and his sons. Tom was our realtor - and a very good one - making sure everything went well. Our families have remained in touch, and now, over twenty more years have gone by. Tom became my mentor with photography. He was so good, so patient, and kind - encouraging, but also critiquing as needed. I learned a lot, and to this day am still enjoying photography as one of my main hobbies. I absolutely love the photos and stories that Tom has added to his collection as the years have gone by, and have seen him teaching, and explaining - not just the camera, but the subject too.. He had such a gift for sharing. Thank you Tom, for your friendship, your help, your encouragement. You will be very much missed.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of my dear friend Tom. Tom took thousands of pictures of my horses and riders over the past decade, but I only found one very rare one, taken in June of 2022, with him in the picture. I will treasure this memory with all my heart. There are so many wonderful stories and encounters we had in all those years photographing horses and riders here at my riding school. We had pizza in the hay barn, inflatable unicorn pool parties, endless walks on horseback on the trails, horse shows, photography lectures, pony parties, riding camps and just cleaning tack and grooming horses on rainy days. Tom captured it for us on film and large prints all over my barn. I am so grateful for this wonderful memory; he will be in all our hearts forever. Thank you, Tom!
