William F. Zick, known by many as Bill, passed away after a long illness on June 6,2023, at his home in Hopewell, NJ.
He was a beloved father, brother & husband and is greatly missed by his family, friends & community.
Bill was born in Lansing, Michigan and adopted shortly thereafter by Francis & Clara Unrath Zick, two doctors living in Kalamazoo, Michigan. While his parents were supporting the medical response in World War II, Bill spent this time on the Zick family farm in Grass Lake, Michigan. Despite their 7-year age difference, his sister, Julie fondly remembers how he always made time for her throughout their lives.
He received his bachelors degree from Bloomfield College and his MBA in international marketing from IMEDE in Switzerland and excelled in his 40-year career in international consumer marketing & sales forging close & meaningful connections around the world.
Bill welcomed his sons, Gregory & Glendon, into the world in 1961 & 1963 and was a very proud to be their father. Some of their fondest memories include road trips, living in Switzerland, skiing & playing golf.
In retirement Bill spent many happy summers in Montbrun-les-Bains, France with his wife, Mary Beth, their cherished Labradors and their many friends there. He was passionate about racing sports cars, golfing with his sons and friends and supporting his local church community The Hopewell United Methodist Church.
His memory will live on with his wife, MaryBeth; his sons, Gregory & Glendon; his grandson, Craig Zick; his sister, Julieanne Shotwell (Thomas Robert Shotwell; his nieces, Jenny Shotwell (Andrew Chirup) and Kristin Shotwell Becker.
He lived to drive, and he loved his Labradors.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will take place in the fall of 2023 and will be announced on this page. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
