Zenona Solivan, 96, of Flemington, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 13, 1925, to the late Modesto Resto and Juana Ruiz in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Zenona was incredibly proud of her Puerto Rican heritage, and although she resided in New Jersey for much of her life, she always kept her hometown near and dear to her heart.
Zenona was a true nature lover and could spend hours enjoying being outside.
Zenona was an amazing cook who loved preparing the dishes that were favored by her loved ones. She also enjoyed listening to music, reading, or playing games such as Mahjong and bingo.
Zenona will be dearly missed- particularly around the holidays- where her family recalls preparing for Christmas together and carrying on family traditions, like her love of gift giving. Though a woman of few words, her eyes and her look spoke volumes.
Her family truly enjoyed her unique sense of humor.
Zenona is predeceased by her husband, Antonio Burgos Solivan, who passed away in 2004.
She is survived by her brother Artemio and her sisters Amparo and Mercedes, children; Iris Mandico and her husband Dominick, Christopher Solivan and his wife Deirdre, Pedro Solivan and his wife Blanca, Miriam Rozo and her husband Enrique, Elba Young and her husband Neil, Elsa Solivan and her husband Al Candelmo; Daughter-in-law Elba Solivan; grandchildren Eric, Amy, Mari, Cristina, Andrea, Elisa, Heather, Daniella, Stephanie, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Kobe, Naima, Julian, Antonio, Lincoln, Olivia, Corina, Sabrina Belle, Ava, and Paloma; and many extended family.
It is politely requested that masks must be worn at all times on funeral home and church grounds. The family appreciates your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
Zenona will lie in repose on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
